Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot Program: A Pathway to Permanent Residence

Canada is launching a new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot Program, offering a streamlined pathway to permanent residence for qualified caregivers. Program Overview

The new pilot will replace the existing caregiver programs and simplify the application process. Eligible candidates will be able to work and gain Canadian experience, eventually applying for permanent residence. In-Canada applications open on March 31, 2025, while out-of-Canada applications will open at a later date.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Job Offer: A valid, full-time job offer from a Canadian employer for in-home care.
  • Experience: At least 6 months of continuous, full-time and relevant work experience in the past 3 years OR completed a relevant training credential in the past 2 years in-home care, including roles as a home child care provider or home support worker.
  • Language Proficiency: Achieve a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 or higher in English or French.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Admissibility: Meet Canadian health, security, and background requirements.
